A Note From Randal
******************

Hello Everyone,

la_dog_cat_food

Welcome new subscribers and thanks to all of you who have been sharing The Frugal Life News with others!

Don’t you love technology? I’m in Oklahoma and this newsletter is logged into our mailing list to go out on the correct day for delivery. Some things do make life a bit easier.

I’m visiting my parents and son which has been a lot of fun, but I came to be of service to my parents, so they’ve had a long ‘to do’ list that I’ve been enjoying. I’ll be on my way home tomorrow so hope to finish that list before you read this :-)

We appreciate you sharing this newsletter and the website. Hope you’re having a wonderful Springtime!

Frugally yours,
Randal

You Are Entitled to a Free Credit Report Annually

The Fair and Accurate Transactions (FACT) Act entitles all Americans over the age of 18 to receive one free credit report annually from all three credit reporting agencies. The site below allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

You can also request your report by phone or mail. Monitoring and periodically reviewing your credit report is an effective tool in fighting identity theft.

Eligibility for an annual free credit report is determined by your state of residence based on the rollout schedule set by federal law. Western and Midwest states are now available. Southern states available June 2005 and Eastern and US Territories in September 2005.

Kitchen Herb Garden

If you have available yard or garden space, you can plant a kitchen herb garden. Herbs are easy to grow, don’t need a lot of space, thrive in just about any type of soil, and many are cold hardy. An ideal location would be a few steps from your kitchen, but any spot that gets about six hours of sun a day is good. By planting herbs that are most often used in cooking, you can pick what you need all summer.

Here’s a “how-to” article to begin your garden this year!

Questions Needing Answers At The Forum

Cleaning:
Q. I have very hard water in my house. I believe this is why my husbands dark blue work uniforms fade so fast. Other than installing a very expensive water softner. Does anyone have advise to prevent this from happening.

Decorating:
Q. Any tips for hanging pictures on walls that are concrete block-based? I live in a very old cottage, and the outer walls, which are concrete, bend any nail that’s longer than 1/2 inch.

Family:
Q. I know I’m not the only one here who has a spouse that wastes money, wastes resources, wastes time, wastes everything without a second thought. Not everyone is frugally minded! I’d love to hear about some success stories in converting spouses and family and how it was accomplished.

Miscellaneous:
Q. Does anyone have any advice in painting aluminum siding? We bought a house that has an ugly shade of aluminum siding, and was wondering if it can be paintd with good results, or will the paint peel off in a few years? Does it take a special kind of paint? How long can I expect a paint job to last on it?
