Ok it could be that the motor is overheating and then shutting down. Or depending on the age of the washer it could have a coil that is overheating and it may be causing the machine to shut off.  It would help if we knew what kind of machine it is... My husband is an expert in washer repair... More info would be greatly appreciated so that he can guid you in the right direction. Thbinx@aol.com

MY WASHER DID JUST THIS THING LAST WEEK. CALLED A REPAIR MAN AND HE SAID THE MOTOR WENT THAT IT WOULD COST TO MUCH TO FIX(150.00) BECAUSE OUR BOTTOM OF THE WASHER WAS RUSTY. WE HAD TO GET A NEW ONE.

I don't know but why not call or email the manufacture with your question?  They should be able to give you an answer.  If you have the manual read it. The manual will usually give answers to problems that you can solve.  This problem might be listed.  Or try calling a repair store such as Sears with your question.  They should be able to diagnose possible problems over the telephone in minutes.

mu washer will run for a few minutes and then the motor kicks off. It will restart later, but do the same thing again. could it be the timer or a belt
