Hi Deanne!!  Maybe you could try using a small
amount of soap fragrances like they sell at
Jo-Ann Fabrics and other craft stores.  If you
use your 40% off coupon  or buy them on
clearance, it could be inexpensive.  These are
intended for  homemade fancy soaps, but you
could try them.
Another idea is to buy deodorizer fragrances
from Don Aslett's website.  They come in orange,
baby powder, lemon, mint,  and green apple for
people who like to scent their cleaners.  You only
use a capful  as it is concentrated.  (7.95/qt.)
Probably other cleaning sites have similar products.
I just happen to know he does.  (I'm not trying to
promote him, just giving ideas.)

Hi:

I'm a Hulda Clark fan and she recommends Borax.  So far I haven't had any issues with fading etc....I do miss fragrences so if someone has any ideas let me know!

Thanks,

Deanne

This is my first time using a message board.  Please bear with me.  I think I sent a reply but couldn't find it.  Yes, homemade soap is safe for anything you want to use it for like bathing, shampoos, dishes, hands, laundry.  I made soap for many, many years.  I don't have a farm now nor a country house to be able to make soap.  It worked all the time I raised children.  I did add 1/2 cup of salt or sugar to make the soap sudsy.

Some clothes need very gentle cleaning so for those the answer is yes.  Regarding other clothes look at the formula you are using.  Are there any harsh chemicals in it?  Compare it to the ingredients in regular laundry soap.  I have read that clothes aren't as white with the home made version but that could be because they don't include any type of bleach, dry or liquid.  Ask whoever told you that, why.  Maybe they have a better explanation.

Hi everyone,

Someone told me that Homemade laundry detergent is too harsh on clothes.  Does anyone know if this is true or not?

thanks,
DC
