Clogged dryer filter ! !

My old dryer was taking too long to dry clothes.  Purchased a new one.  Two weeks later same problem. I have since learned that I wasted $550 on a new dryer.  A local lady had put in a post.  Remove filter, hot water will not pass through it ! !  With the use of dryer sheets,it has to be scrubbed with a brush and soapy water.  Clean filter is all the instructions say.  Expensive lesson ! !
