If you find the mess right as it happens salt and borax either themselves or mixed together do great for getting urine out of carpets. Sprinkle generously on the urine spot, enough that it soaks up the wet. Wait about five mins and sprinkle a bit more on there. Allow to dry and the vaccum it up. It gets it all out and there is not smell. Borax is really a wonderful wonderful product for getting smells and such out.

I have a old cat and dog, both have started to urinate on the carpet. Is there anyway of getting rid of the smell beside ripping up the carpet?
