I have found that extra virgin olive oil is a youth serum!  I've tried so many creams and serums and finally got hip to their ingredients.  I tried EVOO for a week and I've never looked younger or healthier.  Also pure coconut oil is wonderful for fine lines and wrinkles as well as dryness.  Grape seed oil is another natural way to go and when you mix the EVOO and grape seed together, you have a powerful combination.  So save your dollars and make your own potion.  And don't worry.  Your skin will not end up oily or greasy.  It will drink it right in.  Only a few drops will do!

As someone who has somewhat oily facial skin, I learned long ago to exfoliate often to help keep the pores open and get the dead skin off.

I have tried just about every brand out there of "scrubs" and while they all work OK, I found from my dermatologist that a simple paste scrub made of warm water and baking soda works VERY well, without the danger of microabrasions often made with the store-bought granuals found in many scrubs.

Besides, it's VERY cheap and you really don't have to use much at all.

Follow up with a good rinsing and then BLOT dry your skin before putting on any kind of moisturizer.  Never RUB dry your skin as this takes precious moisture from your skin.

Hi all

I totally agree, cosmetic companies do try to make us part with money.
I used to spend a good amount of money on cleansers and acne medication for my son, we are all acne prone, its a family thing.

My doctor recommended skinvac daily cleanser, a type of special cloth that removes pore clogging stuff, as well as make up. It's reusable and works with water, so we don't end up with dry skin and then spending more to replenish the moisture.

Now, my family (5 in total) all use this and it works out cheaper and a lot more clutter free.

I hate the way commercials target teens, its like, if you have acne, you can't join the human race or something terrible. Its hard on the kids.

Query:
I think skin care is one of the most successful industries seperating people from their money!

I was a victim for years. After trying everything from cheap to really expensive, I went to a dermatologist and just put it out there : what should I do?

The dermatologist told me to wash with a mild soap like Dove or Oil of Olay unscented with hands only, face and body. Wash the face morning and evening. Use Oil of Olay Complete unscented daily on face and neck for sun protection (a mild, light moisturizer with SPF 15 - there are a few other brands out there). The derm precsribed Differin cream for my face to prevent acne and even out skin tone, apply a little every evening.

For dry hands, feet, and body, I use Cetaphil cream, only as needed! I like the cream because a little goes a very long way, it won't irritate my face if it gets transferred accidentally, and it really works.

The truth is, the skin is an organ and much of the stuff we want to do to it interferes with its function. Additionally, the derm told me that except for sun exposure, practically nothing we do will counter our genetic predisposition.

This good advice hasn't stopped me from being applesered by the benefits of myriad other products (including cheap or natural remedies), but they only make my skin act up, and I'm learning to be strong!

(Sorry for the long post - this topic has wasted more of my time and money than I wish on anyone. I hope it helps!)

Is this witchhazel oil that i saw in the pharmacy---was looking  for some uncommon product for the facial skin-i experiment alot--now trying at bedtime to rub in deeply white powder dry "drinkable" clay on the face to try to smooth the overall condition.then i use sweet almond oil (the eatable kind-not massage) to lightly coat & go to bed.i think it is a better source of vitamin "e" then the kind you find at walmart-- which is supposedly good--although probably manufactured by kodac company.(internet)

Strangly i heard on the radio-of a woman who put her husbands sexual secretions on her face & she looked apparently very young (biologically she was around 65 if my memory serves me well)--is it true -don't know--you can't believe all you hear i guess.
