      I'm not sure if my softener is doing its job.  Instead of buying a water test kit, I'm wondering if there is a way to make a softness test at home.  Any ideas?

        Google “hard water test strips” and you'll find packages for a small fee.  All you need to do is dip them in the water to test it.
