If you have the task of washing cloth diapers, let me give you some good hints that will keep your diapers sparkling clean and less work for you mom's!

First of all, make sure you're using diaper liners.  Disposable ones are best, and you can actually wash and reuse these if they're not flushed with solid waste.  You can use similar cloth liners also.  Just make sure it's cotton.  I use to rinse my diapers and put them in a pail for the next morning (yes, wash them every day).  NO…do not put them in a pail of water.  That only increases the odor and multiply bacteria.  When you are ready the next day to wash, put all of the rinsed diapers in the washer with HOT water and a small amount of detergent and wash them.  When they are done, wash them again in hot water and a small amount of detergent and add one cup of bleach.  You can hang them dry or in put them in the dryer with 1/2 fabric softener sheet…or dab a little liquid softener on damp face cloth and it will do the same thing.  I preferred to hang mine in the sun for maximum freshness.  Hope this helps some little babes buns!

When my little ones were in diapers, I had the snowiest cloth diapers.

I kept them in a diaper container that contained water. (It was a trash can with a cover.) Of course I rinsed certain ones in the toilet first.

I ran them through one wash cycle with no soap. Then I ran them again with soap and Clorox. I had not discovered vinegar back then, but now that I'm using vinegar as a final rinse, I would give them one more rinse with 1/4 c. white vinegar added.

A friend turned me on to blueing. Remember bluing? It may be hard to find. A drop of blue in the rinse makes the whites look whiter. I found it in a little blue bottle in the laundry soap section.
