A Note From Randal
******************

Hello Everyone,

This newsletter was scheduled before we left for a convention in Salt Lake City. We’ll be back at work the day before it goes out, but I know how much we’ll have to catch up on, so I’m using technology to make sure it goes out on time.

After our 4-day convention, we will have a 5-day trip with our son, Ben, and the itinerary includes Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. We are all very excited. A couple of years ago, our convention was in San Francisco and he came out there so we could travel to Yosemite. Places like this sure take our breath away and I do hope we save them for future generations.

When we get back Donna will post the pictures on our website gallery and let you get a glimpse of the activities we were able to enjoy. We toured a Shakespeare Theater in Staunton, VA, recently that is the only replica of the Blackfriars Playhouse in London. If you’d like to see those photos, here’s the link: https://www.thefrugallife.com/gallery/shakespearetheater Blackfriars Playhouse in Staunton, VA

If you haven’t visited our Critter Gallery of photos lately, Donna’s taken quite a few pictures of the critters that drop by to visit us. There are butterflies, toads, birds, squirrels, and more. Here’s a link to begin the most recent. You can click on the double arrows to go forward or back: https://www.thefrugallife.com/gallery/bluebirdcritters/IMG_0861 Bluebird Cove Critters

We appreciate you sharing our sites and ezines with your friends and always enjoy the comments added to the gallery site.

Until next time, be in good health!

Blessings to You!
Randal

Never Pay Retail – Ever! – by Kimberly A. Griffiths

With so many different types of sales running all the time, why would anyone ever pay retail? In most cases, with a little research, you may never have to pay retail again.

Buyers beware — not all sales are created equally.

• % off sale price
Some sales offer substantial savings such as 50% off already reduced merchandise which is probably as deep a discount as you can get. It may take some time and patience once you’re in the store, but these sales can really be wonderful when buying necessities such as back-to-school clothes and even for off-season holiday shopping.

Fire Starters … For wood or camp fires or cookouts

You only need 4 things:

1. Cardboard egg cartons (use just the bottom part)
2. Wood shavings/curls
3. Old wax
4. Old cookie sheet or something to set the egg cartons on

Put the egg carton bottoms on the cookie sheet … any extra wax will then go onto the cookie sheet and not on the counter.  Stuff about 1/4 cup of wood shavings into each “egg”.  Melt the wax and pour it over the wood shavings.  Let dry over night and the next day cut the egg cartons into individual “eggs”.

When you want to start a fire, just put one of the eggs at the bottom, add kindling and a couple of pieces of wood and start the egg/shavings on fire.  It will burn for about 10-15 minutes and by that time the fire will be going very well.

This is a good way to recycle old egg cartons, wood shavings and wax (old candles etc); and eliminates the need for paper when starting a wood fire.  I melt the wax in an old tea kettle on top of the wood stove.  Contributed by sunflower1948

Looking For Extra Dollars

No task is too menial when you’re crunched for cash. Here’s a few ideas on rustling up some extra bucks:

* Cash In Your Coins – you won’t believe how much you have in those jars and maybe in the furniture.

* Sell Your Stuff – it adds up. Look around and realize all of the things you are not using and get rid of it. Sell it on eBay, Craig’s List

* Do Market Research – Search for “focus groups” online and you’ll find oodles of them. Get paid for doing something you do all the time anyway, giving your opinion.

* Get a Move On – Do you have a truck, van or SUV? Place a free ad offering your moving services for a fee.

* Think Small Business – Many of them need temporary help and they pay in cash. Catering, landscaping, and other service type businesses. Check the yellow pages or newspaper ads.

* Like Children? Babysitting rates run from $7 – $20.

Questions Needing Answers At The Forum

Pets Forum
1. Hi everyone, I just joined this forum. I see many of you know how to take care of kittens and other animals!
I just found two 2-week old kittens(they’re about 4 inches in length, so tiny!) on my driveway. Someone must have abandoned them, poor things. I would like to know any basic things I should be checking for. They are covered in fleas and I have washed them with Dawn dish soap about 3 times in the past 3 days. Any advice on what else I can do for these poor things? Thanks!
